Fugace — Jean Sinelle’s last months as a student, in a zine

Most of what we keep from a period of our lives now sits on our phones: photos, but also screenshots, notes typed in a hurry, messages we never delete. In Fugace, his first zine, photographer and video journalist Jean Sinelle looks back at his last months as a student by putting those two archives side by side. Pictures of ordinary days sit next to screen captures and personal notes. The 36 pages were designed by Robin Glandon and printed on recycled paper in an edition of 50 copies. There are no big events here. The zine is about melancholy and the softness of the everyday, the kind of time you only recognise as a chapter once it’s over.
On Thursday 15 October, we launch Fugace at the shop. Jean will sign copies at the entrance, and the back of the bookshop becomes a one-night exhibition. A wall of A4 posters mixes his photos with screenshots, and a bedside corner (notebook, markers, small prints, a lamp) brings the private side of the project into the room. A playlist opens the evening, then from 8pm Rocknguurl plays a dub and rock DJ set.
