Zephyr.xr — La Haine, ultras and the art of the self-published zine

Zephyr.xr brings a new batch of self-published work to Le Grand Jeu on Saturday 12 December. The centrepiece is the La Haine art toy (€30), what it depicts]. It comes with a second zine, Le monde est à nous (€10), a postcard and a sticker sheet. The titles are not chosen at random: Kassovitz’s 1995 film and the terraces of Algiers ask the same question of who gets to own the city.

Zephyr.xr’s first zine, Amore & Mentalita, documents ultras culture in Algiers through its murals and painted slogans, in a numbered edition of 50 that we have carried since spring. Zephyr.xr will be in the shop all afternoon to present the new pieces, sign copies and talk about the project. For those who want the source material, the facsimile of the original La Haine screenplay (Maison CF) is on our shelves as well.
