DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, 3 October\, Le Grand Jeu hands the shop over to the rapper Oreall for a one-day pop-up. It’s his first time meeting his Paris audience in person\, and the format is deliberately simple. Come by\, talk\, listen\, and leave with a piece of the project. On the table: his CD Bathroom Problems\, a run of T-shirts\, and the last copies of Sous Press’ fanzines. \nWe see this kind of event as part of what an independent bookshop is for. Rap culture has always travelled through small formats: self-released CDs\, merch pressed in short runs\, photocopied zines. Oreall’s label\, Bigzindustrie\, runs the stand from start to finish. SUMMARY:One Love Books Paris Launch — Greensleeves\, Clarks and Jamaica
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, 10 October\, the London publisher One Love Books comes to Paris for an afternoon at Le Comptoir Général\, co-organised with Le Grand Jeu and Judah Roger. There’s no talk and no stage. It’s a meet-and-greet with Alexander Newman\, a book signing\, and DJ sets on vinyl while the venue carries on as usual. Signed copies of Greensleeves: The First 100 Covers will be available on the day\, alongside From Somerset to the World and Clarks in Jamaica. \nOne Love Books documents the visual and material history of Jamaican music and its diaspora. Their books cover the sleeves of a label that shaped reggae and dancehall\, and the unlikely story of how a Somerset shoe became a Kingston uniform. These are histories told through objects\, and that’s why they sit naturally on our shelves next to graffiti\, hip-hop and skate. DESCRIPTION:On Friday\, 16 October\, Nespo is back at Le Grand Jeu to launch the second volume of Rideaux de Fer\, his zine devoted entirely to the painted shutters of Paris. The idea hasn’t changed since issue one. When a shop closes for the night\, its shutter becomes a wall\, and graffiti writers have been using those walls for decades. Page after page\, Nespo documents the city’s roll-down shutters\, from laundromats and bakeries to corner cafés and neighbourhood supermarkets. Tags\, throw-ups and full pieces sit between shop signs and phone numbers. \nThis issue carries a special focus on Lutes BMC\, whose shutters mix lettering with characters lifted from pop culture. The zine includes an unpublished interview\, archive material and action shots. It’s printed offset in colour\, A5\, with 110 pages and a perfect binding. SUMMARY:Itinéraire bis — A Hong Kong journey by Yucka & Jean Moner
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, 17 October\, Yucka and Jean Moner come up from Nantes to present Itinéraire bis\, a book of film photographs taken in Hong Kong in February 2025. Both come from the graffiti scene\, and that background shows in how they look at the city: side streets\, details\, places away from the usual routes. The 276-page book is organised into eleven chapters\, each opened by a short text. They’re meant as ways in\, not captions. For the day\, a selection of their prints will hang on the shop walls. \nGraffiti is still there\, just set apart. The book comes with an 84-page fanzine covering the local scene and the duo’s own painting sessions in the city. The fanzine also opens up to digital photography\, while the book stays entirely analogue. There’s also a box-set edition.
