DESCRIPTION:Before it hangs in a frame\, a scene lives on cotton. Long before French rap reached the museum\, it moved through the streets on the backs of those who built it — concert tees\, promo shirts\, bootlegs\, worn until they became documents in their own right. French Rap Tees\, the book by Driss Dendoune produced by mgh!\, gathers this overlooked archive: the garment as a record of a movement. \nThe book officially releases this October — but we’re celebrating it early\, because part of the collection it documents is on view right now inside Beyond the Streets. For one afternoon\, Le Grand Jeu takes this story into the show. We begin with a guided tour of the exhibition at La Villette\, then move to its bookshop — run by Sarah Andelman — for an exclusive drop of just 50 copies of French Rap Tees\, signed in the presence of two founding voices of the culture\, Solo and Manu Key. DESCRIPTION:TEK — Une Histoire de la Techno is a traverse through the history of electronic dance music\, spanning from the early experiments of the Groupe de Recherche de Musique Concrète in the 1950s through psytrance\, jungle and the free party movement. Electronic music is everywhere now — in adverts\, concert halls\, supermarkets\, woven into rock\, rap\, pop\, and even jazz and swing. TEK traces how we got here\, mapping the evolution and reach of a culture shaped by technology\, repetition and the dance floor. \nThis Wednesday\, we’re celebrating the launch of a newly revised and expanded edition of the TEK fanzine. A long-running collaboration with Compagnie les Comploteurs (since 2020)\, TEK combines audio documentary\, fanzine and DJ-Conférence into a single compact\, accessible format. The new edition includes a previously unpublished chapter on the history of jungle and drum’n’bass\, an expanded bibliography and curated playlists for each musical genre explored. To collect these publications is to hold onto a history that was never really meant to last: printed cheaply\, traded freely\, and gone almost as soon as it appeared. \nOUT OF PRINT brings that history back into circulation for two days. Conceived as a graffiti and art book market — from collectors for collectors — it gathers publishers\, booksellers and independent sellers to present new releases alongside rare\, out-of-print and special publications.
