Art & Place Conference is an international conference dedicated to the critical exploration of urban art, public space, and contemporary cultural practices rooted in the city. Bringing together artists, curators, researchers, and independent cultural operators, the conference has positioned itself as a key platform for dialogue, fostering critical perspectives on practices that emerge from the streets while engaging with broader social, political, and spatial contexts.
On occasion of its first edition in Saarbrücke, Le Grand Jeu has taken part in the Art & Place Conference, continuing a trajectory of contributions to international events and critical forums devoted to urban cultures. This participation reflects an ongoing commitment to engaging with spaces of discussion and exchange where publishing, curatorial practice, and research intersect beyond the traditional exhibition format.
For this occasion, Le Grand Jeu has contributed to the conference by sharing its experience at the crossroads of independent publishing, archiving, and street culture. Through this involvement, the project emphasizes the role of books, zines, and printed matter as tools for research, transmission, and memory—highlighting how publishing practices help document, preserve, and circulate alternative histories of urban art and public space.
